Lace in Lace, colors in Lace

dsc03150.JPGOn the Island of Lace, where they make lace, there works a lady who will ramble off in your ear every Italian word she knows and you don’t. If you try Spanish with her she will completely understand, but it will be tough following her friendly descriptions of different patterns of lace. Here is the picture I asked if I could take, in Spanish.

dsc03155.JPG As this post was entitled, there are also colors in Lace, rather in lace, for lace is white but the Island is filled with colors. No, there is no neighborhood standard when it comes to colors. Here is a loverly picture.

And that’s all folks. I’m saddened by your jealousy of the satisfaction my eye receives from such marvellous sights as Lace, Murano and Venice. Traveling is so over rated. It’s the people ya meet not the places ya go ;).

A big cheese

CheeseAs we meandored the streets of Treviso Italia we encountered to our astonishment a huge hunk of cheese. If ever one is trying to teach a geometry class the attributes of a 3 dimensional right cylinder, this is the visceral learning tool to use.

Your fellow traveller, perhaps figuratively,

Goobye Spain, Hello Italy…

italy.JPG Hello dear readers! (Now a grand total of two I believe)

It looks like I’m a little late in sharing my thoughts about Italy. My siblings have beat me to it! So, without further ado lets jump right in. Perhaps off one of the 400 or so bridges in Venice? Don’t hit the gondola! *splash…*

“Goodbye!” I shouted through the closing doors, “See you some time in January.” Yes, a very heart felt goodbye to my friends in Spain. One of the many I had to cram into the few days we had in our little pueblo. From the school we left to store away our unneeded possessions and then in a blur we had the van packed with our vitals and were rolling right along to the airport. In an hour or so we would be flying to Italy…

After we touched down the late night engulfed us one by one as we stepped out of the air plane. In a few moments we found ourselves in the baggage pick-up area. We had lost our instruments! Somewhere between Madrid and Italy they had gotten lost. So now I sit missing my guitar. No busking in the streets of Venice I suppose…

Tomorrow bright and early we will head into Venice once again, this time in search of a glass factory.

Venise, Italy

dsc02857.JPGWe landed last night in Italy (you can read about that in detail here) and spent the night with a guy named Traversin. The next day we went to the old part of town, got lost, had fun, and then came out on the other side of town were we took a train to the small famous island of Venice. The island is a series of small canals, it has over 400 bridges. We walked and met people and ate Italian ice cream, and then headed for the saint marks square. Continue reading ‘Venise, Italy’
