book review: Where the Red Fern Grows, by Tara McCarthy

This heart warming adventure will take you through bittersweet
moments, wonderfully happy moments, and sections that would make you
cry. It starts out with a man who had a incredible childhood. When a
hunting hound was found fighting for his life outside on the
sidewalk, he saved it, and brought it home to feed it. The dog made
him feel and remember the joyful and melancholy story of his life.

Billy, the main character of the story, wanted two hunting hounds
for a long time. His parents could not afford to get a hunting hound
because of the bad times, so it was up to Billy to save enough money
to get the hunting hounds he wanted so badly. Will he save enough
money to get the hunting hounds he is wanting?

Response: I never cried in this book. Probably because I have
never had a dog…or any kind of pet, unless you count the gold fish
some kid won at the fair and he donated it to my dads class, then we
named him tuna because we planed on eating him. When he died we
flushed him down the toilet, no tears shed. By the way, I have always
wanted a hamster, I’ve even written shortish story’s about
hamsters. but to no avail… haven’t gotten one yet.
